You Only Get To Do It "Once"..

The song that I have been waiting for from Liam Gallagher's newest album is finally here! "Once" made it's debut today (July 26th,2019) around the world! The release actually took me by surprise, as I didn't know the release date of the song, I just knew it was going to be some time in late July- early August. The first time I heard "Once" was when a snippet of the song was played in Liam's documentary " As It Was". From only hearing a snippet, I knew I was going to love this song. After hearing it several times already today (25 times over at the time of writing this!) I can safely say this is my favorite single so far. If it's one thing I love about Liam, is how versatile his voice can be. He can belt out heavy tracks like "Wall of Glass" and his first single from his newest album "Why Me? Why Not? "Shockwave", and he can tone it down for the more soft, acoustic ballads like "Once". Now that is the Liam I love the most. I will give it to him, he can sing a ballad. I absolutely fell in love with "Paper Crown" and "I've All I Need" on his first solo record "As You Were". Those were the more softer songs on the album, and I almost prefer those songs over the hard-hitting guitar driven songs. That is just my opinion though, I still love his music no matter what!

Hearing "Once" made me think of those two songs, specifically "Paper Crown". I got the same feeling I did when hearing "Paper Crown" for the first time. This is beautiful! how can such a perfect song like this exist, and let alone have it sung by Liam Gallagher? The first thing I noticed was the lyrics of the song. The song-writing is strong. I couldn't help but think of "Paper Crown" and it's lyrics when hearing lines from "Once" like the chorus,

But oh, I remember how you used to shine, back then You went down so easy like a glass of wine, my friend When the dawn came up you felt so inspired to do it again But it turns out you only get to do it once.

I just absolutely love the chorus! It brings a smile to my face. I can see people holding up lighters at his shows when this song comes on! It really makes you think about just life in general. You only get to do this once, that's it! Make the most of it. Everything about this song is perfect. The guitar and the lyrics. Everything is kept simple and it works. Throw in a string section during the chorus and it transforms this already amazing piece of work into something beautiful. It adds a nice touch. I love this song! I only needed to hear it "Once" to know that. I highly recommend "Once" to anyone and everyone out there. You will not be disappointed.
